Several Recognition Awards will be presented to New York credit union leaders during the New York Credit Union Association’s 2017 Annual Meeting & Convention. Today’s featured award is the Outstanding Young Professional Award, which honors individuals 35 or younger whose commitment, hard work and achievements have enhanced their credit unions or the entire New York credit union movement.
The Association’s Awards Committee has selected Michael Mattone, vice president of public relations and corporate communications at Municipal CU, as this year’s Outstanding Young Professional.
Mattone began his career with Municipal CU in 2008, joining the credit union as a marketing research assistant. After building a successful marketing research and analytics program, Mattone transitioned roles to corporate communications, where he was tasked with developing all external communications pieces for the institution. He was named assistant vice president in 2012.
In his current role, Mattone oversees the credit union’s public relations, corporate communications, social media networks, corporate social responsibility and marketing research programs. He has also managed Municipal CU’s industry affairs since 2011, and is the credit union’s primary legislative advocate.
In 2014, Mattone was appointed to the New York Credit Union Association’s Young Professionals Commission, and is currently the Commission’s Chair. He is also a CULAC/CUPAC trustee and a Metropolitan Chapter Council committee member.
