YP Educational Summit will feature leaders from CU, cooperative movements

The Young Professionals Commission’s Summer Educational Summit, which will be held Aug. 8-9 in New York City, will feature a lineup of notable speakers from the credit union and cooperative movements.

The event is being supported by sponsors CUNA Mutual Group, Cabot Creamery, TCAR and Alloya Corporate FCU.

The Summit will kick off Tuesday, Aug. 8, with a networking reception at the Mason Jar, located at 42 East 30th St.

Wednesday’s session will begin with a continental breakfast sponsored by Alloya Corporate FCU

John Cassidy, communications manager for CUNA Mutual Group—the event’s title sponsor—will then address the group. Cassidy has worked for the credit union movement in several different capacities: Prior to joining CUNA Mutual Group, Cassidy served as the marketing and business development manager at Latitude 32 CU in Charleston, South Carolina, and as a marketing coordinator at the Association.

Attendees will then hear from Amanda Freund of Fruend’s Farm, a member of the Cabot Creamery cooperative, who will discuss the co-op principles and business model.

Also slated to speak is Patrick Dunleavy, VP of recovery operations for TCAR. Dunleavy is a third generation repossession professional with 15 years of experience in repossessions & remarketing. He also serves as chairman of the American Recovery Association’s Young Professionals Repossessors Commission.

The event will include an additional panel discussion called “Women of Leadership in the Credit Union Movement.” The panelists will include: Linda Armyn, SVP of corporate affairs at Bethpage FCU; Linda Levy, president/CEO of Lower East Side People’s FCU; and Lisa Morris, AVP of public relations and corporate communications at Hudson Valley FCU.
