New York Credit Union Association President/CEO William J. Mellin attended an event Tuesday with Rep. Elise Stefanik, state Sen. Kathy Marchione and Assemblyman Dan Stec.

The event was held at the Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs.

Mellin spoke directly with Stefanik, R-21, who in 2014 was the youngest woman ever elected to Congress. Stefanik expressed her appreciation for the support she has received from credit unions and for the important services that credit unions bring to consumers.

“Relationship-building is the cornerstone of all our advocacy efforts, and this event was an excellent opportunity to remind Rep. Stefanik and our state lawmakers that the credit union movement is key part of their constituency,” said Mellin. “The congresswoman has consistently been receptive of our issues, and I look forward to building on this already strong relationship.”

As a reminder, Congress is in the midst of their annual August break. The Association is encouraging credit union advocates to meet with their federal lawmakers in their home districts this month.
