Leadership from the New York Credit Union Association held a conference call yesterday with NCUA Executive Director Mark Treichel to discuss the agency’s plans to close its Region 1 offices and consolidate other operations.
As previously reported in The Point, NCUA announced in July that the agency would undergo a reorganization and restructuring that would result in the closure of its Region 1 offices in Albany.
The Association hosted the call with Treichel to ensure that NCUA has thoroughly examined all potential impacts the Region 1 closure will have on credit unions in New York.
“Our call with Mark Treichel was productive and informative, and I thank the executive director for answering our many questions,” said Association President/CEO William J. Mellin. “It is clear from our discussion that the agency has put a tremendous amount of thought into their reorganization. We look forward to continuing the dialogue with NCUA and working with them to ensure credit union questions and concerns are heard.”
As a follow up to yesterday’s phone call, staff from the Association will meet tomorrow with NCUA Region 1 Director Larry Blankenberger.
