CU Leader Connie Scherrer passes away

A longtime member of the New York credit union movement, Connie Scherrer, passed away early Friday morning after a courageous battle with ALS. Scherrer worked for the association as well as several western New York credit unions before becoming the CEO of Seneca Nations FCU.

“Connie was a huge advocate for all things credit union,” said NYCUA Board Chairwoman Marie Betti.

“We at the association are deeply saddened to learn of Connie’s passing,” said Association President/CEO William J. Mellin. “Connie was an integral part of the credit union movement in New York, and was highly respected by her peers. On behalf of the Association and it’s members, I offer my deepest sympathies to Connie’s family, friends, and colleagues.”

Donations in Connie’s name can be made to Hospice Buffalo, as that is the request of her family.
