CUNA announces additional speakers for Governmental Affairs Conference

CUNA has announced five additional speakers for its upcoming Governmental Affairs Conference. As previously reported, Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and former governor of South Carolina, and best-selling author Marcus Buckingham will be keynote speakers at the event.

Additional speakers include:

David Plouffe — Considered the architect of President Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns, Plouffe is recognized as a pioneering force in the fields of politics, technology and grassroots leadership. His approach to reach voters by leveraging technology and big data harnessed the power of the internet and sparked a grassroots movement that changed the campaign landscape. He also served as chief advisor to Uber and led the policy and advocacy team for the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, a philanthropy run by Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla. He is a New York Times best-selling author and host of the podcast “Campaign HQ.”

Platon — An award-winning photographer and founder of The People’s Portfolio, a nonprofit established to turn a spotlight on little-known stories from around the globe, Platon’s work has been published in a range of international publications, including Rolling Stone, The New York Times Magazine, Vanity Fair, Esquire, GQ and The Sunday Times Magazine.

He produced over 20 covers for TIME Magazine, including the 2007 person-of-the-year cover of Vladimir Putin, which was awarded first prize at the World Press Photo Contest. As staff photographer for The New Yorker, he created an award-winning portfolio whose themes included the U.S. military, world leaders and the civil rights movement. He has published four books of his work

Stephanie Cutter — Named one of the 50 most powerful people in Washington by GQ, one of the most prominent voices in the Democratic party and a top strategist and crisis manager by Politico, Cutter has been at the center of every major policy and political debate for the past two decades. She has been an advisor to several Democratic leaders and served as deputy campaign manager for President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.

She is a founding partner at Precision Strategies, a communications, digital and data-targeting consulting firm; a contributor to ABC News; and a former co-host of CNN’s “Crossfire.”

Nicolle Wallace — A political analyst, New York Times best-selling author and a long-time strategist for the GOP, Wallace served as communications chief for President George W. Bush’s White House and election campaign. She was senior campaign advisor for the 2008 McCain-Palin presidential campaign and, before her time at the White House, was a press secretary for Florida Governor Jeb Bush.

Wallace is currently the host of MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House,” a frequent contributor and guest host on “The 11th Hour” with Brian Williams, “Morning Joe” and a contributor on the “Today” show. She was formerly a co-host on ABC’s “The View.” She is also the author several New York Times best-selling political novels.

The event will again be emceed by Antonio Neve, an internationally recognized workplace speaker, career success coach and author. An award-winning journalist, Neve served as a correspondent in the television industry in New York City with top networks including NBC, PBS and BET networks for more than 10 years.

The 2020 CUNA GAC will be held Feb. 23-27, in Washington, D.C. The event is considered the premier event for political impact in the credit union industry, drawing thousands of credit union advocates from across the country each year. In addition to the keynote and educational sessions, the event also includes face-to-face meetings with some of the most influential policymakers in the country.
