Qside FCU
Monica Reid, COO at Qside FCU in Queens and who has held a variety of positions during her nearly 40-year tenure at the credit union, has announced her retirement, effective Dec. 31.
An immigrant from Jamaica where she worked for 13 years at Farmers Credit Union and the City of Kingston Credit Union, Reid began her career at Waterside FCU (Qside) FCU in 1983 as a teller, and shortly thereafter, became a supervisor. She attended night school, earning a degree from LaGuardia Community College, and was named assistant manager in 1988. In 1998, during a vacancy, she served as CEO and a board of director. She became COO of the credit union in 1998.

“A broad level of credit union experience, across many years which she did with a high level of professionalism,” said Mark Johnson, CEO of Qside FCU. “Monica rarely took a sick day, was likely the last employee to leave each day, and always had the ‘people helping people’ mantra of credit unions in all that she did. There are still members who call Monica first and last when they do their business with Qside FCU. They will miss her, as will I.”
