Webinar: CU professionals can learn about changes to CAMELS rating system

Credit union professionals can learn more about changes to the NCUA’s CAMELS rating system during an upcoming webinar, “CAMELS,” hosted by the NCUA on Thursday, March 10, beginning at 2 p.m.

The webinar will cover updates to the agency’s supervisory rating system that is transitioning from CAMEL to CAMELS, effective April 1. Specifically, the webinar will focus on the addition of a sixth component, “S” (sensitivity to market risk), and redefining the “L” (liquidity risk) component.

The NCUA board of directors unanimously approved the final rule that adds the sensitivity to market risk or “S” component to the existing CAMEL rating system and redefines the liquidity risk, or “L” component at its October 2021 meeting.
