CU professionals can explore ways to further financial inclusion of refugee communities

Credit union professionals are invited to participate in a webinar, “Financial Inclusion of Refugee Communities,” at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 4. Among the panelists, the webinar will feature Christina Sauve, CEO of Cooperative FCU, who was instrumental in earning the Juntos Avanzamos designation for Cooperative FCU.

As recent international events have shown, war, famine, and natural disasters can befall any country or communities and force thousands of people to abandon their homes in search of peace, stability, and prosperity.

As refugees and migrants look to build a new future in the United States, their inclusion into the U.S. financial system is critical for them to build wealth and integrate into our economy and society. This is an opportunity for community development credit unions to grow by serving a diverse and multicultural community of refugees while meeting their mission of financial inclusion.

The event is sponsored by Inclusiv, a strategic partner of the New York Credit Union Association, in collaboration with Cooperative FCU, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, Holy Rosary Credit Union and Point West Credit Union. The event is the first Juntos Avanzamos webinar of the year.
