Certified credit union financial counselors are in a unique position to guide members to financial security, particularly as consumers seek reliable financial advice from budgeting to navigating financial hardships amid the pandemic.
Certified credit union financial counselors can:
- help those experiencing financial difficulties;
- demonstrate the credit union difference;
- attract new members;
- grow product and service revenue; and
- reduce delinquencies and charge-offs.
The New York Credit Union Association’s Financial Counseling Certification Program — FiCEP — offers member credit unions an enhanced version of CUNA’s FiCEP, which combines the affordability and convenience of a self-study program with the group, hands-on approach and networking of an off-site CUNA school.
Program features include:
- eight-module curriculum presented in eight webinars;
- new for 2021: one book and one proctored exam;
- printed self-study materials;
- instruction, review and opportunities for networking; and
- certification after successful completion of exam.
