Interested in offering members solar lending opportunities? Credit unions can take part in a complimentary consumer solar lending professional training and certificate program.
Inclusiv, a New York Credit Union Association strategic partner, and Inclusiv’s Center for Resiliency and Clean Energy and the Center for Impact Finance at the University of New Hampshire, have launched the virtual program for community-based lending institutions, including credit unions, CDFIs and community banks.
The training is complimentary to individuals with more than one year of lending experience who work at community-based lending institutions that would like to offer solar financing loan products. Each training cohort will acquire the knowledge, skills and practices needed to engage in solar lending, including market assessment, product development, working with solar installers and developers, underwriting and deal structuring and program and asset management.
The consumer solar lending program includes the following:
- Part 1 (time commitment: 2-4 hours)
Dates: Now through April 29
Details: Self-paced module 1: “Intro to Solar Finance.” This module takes 2-4 hours to complete and participants can go at their pace.
- Part 2 (time commitment: 20-30 minutes)
Dates: April 13-29
Details: One 20- to 30-minute introductory meeting with instructor.
- Part 3 (time commitment: 3-6 hours per week over 7 weeks)
Dates: May 5-June 23
Details: Zoom sessions plus course work, with 7 instructor-led 90-minute Zoom sessions on Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m., and in between Zoom sessions, participants will be assigned 1-3 hours of lectures/assignments to complete at their own pace each week.
