We got back into a New York state of mind! EXCEL 23, the New York Credit Union Association’s Annual Meeting and Convention, brought together hundreds of credit union leaders, volunteers and industry professionals for four days of learning, inspiration, networking, relaxation and more June 15-18 at the Sagamore Resort on Lake George.
The TruStage Golf Tournament raised $25,000 for the New York Credit Union Foundation, and was followed by a welcome reception and the ever-popular Expo. The Wine Pull, held during the Expo, raised $10,500 for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and included a generous COOP Solutions Miracle Match. Attendees ended the first evening Dancing Under the Stars overlooking beautiful Lake George.
The packed event also included the popular Silent Auction — which raised $14,000 for the New York Credit Union Foundation — multiple Learning Labs, a packed trivia night hosted by the Young Professionals Commission, and the Saturday evening gala. Prior to the gala, past Board Chair Robyn Young was honored for her contributions to the Association and the credit union movement at the Chair’s Testimonial.
Recognition Award recipients, including Hall of Fame inductee Linda Bourgeois, former CEO of UFirst FCU, were honored, and attendees also had opportunities for fun and relaxation enjoying a boat cruise on Lake George, a culinary demonstration and BINGO.
EXCEL 23 attendees heard from dynamic speakers:
- Steven Rick, chief economist for TruStage, who discussed the impact of the economy on credit unions;
- Michelle Poler, founder of Hello Fears, a social movement inspiring over 50 million people worldwide to choose growth over comfort;
- John Sileo, cybersecurity expert, president/CEO of The Sileo Group;
- Dennis Snow, customer experience expert and author of “Lessons from the Mouse;” and
- Kenny Aronoff, Rolling Stone’s “Top 100 Greatest Drummer of All Time,” named the number-one pop/rock drummer and number-one studio drummer by Modern Drummer Magazine.
