The NCUA is seeking comments on a proposed rule amending the methodology used to determine the overhead transfer rate as well as how the agency determines operating fees charged to federal credit unions, according to a notice published in the Federal Register Aug. 31.
The board, which announced the proposed rule following its July meeting, uses the operating fees to fund part of the NCUA’s annual budget, and is proposing to:
- clarify the treatment of capital project budgets when calculating the operating fees;
- clarify the treatment of miscellaneous revenues when calculating the operating fees; and
- modify the approach for calculating the annual inflationary adjustments to the thresholds for the operating fee rate tiers.
Comments will be accepted until Oct. 30. The next NCUA board meeting is Sept. 17, as previously reported.
