Credit union leaders, professionals and volunteers from across the state are in Bolton Landing on Lake George today for the New York Credit Union Association’s 2017 Annual Meeting & Convention.
Convention kicked off yesterday with the CUNA Mutual Group Golf Tournament to benefit the New York Credit Union Foundation. The annual Convention tradition, which raises critical funds for the Foundation, was held at the Sagamore Golf Course overlooking Lake George.
Following the round of golf, hundreds of attendees stopped by the EXPO and Welcome Reception, which included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and three hours of networking with leading service and technology providers.
With the help of CO-OP Financial Services’ Miracle Match program, more than $13,500 was raised for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals that serve New York during the popular Wine Pull event.
The opening day of Convention concluded with the Young Professionals Commission’s Cheers and Beers networking event.
Convention will continue today with additional networking time in the EXPO followed by the opening ceremonies and day one of the general session. During the general session, attendees will hear from former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, author of the New York Times bestselling book, “Lone Survivor.”
Later in the day, a special awards luncheon will honor the recipients of the Association’s Recognition Awards. A number of educational Learning Labs are also scheduled this afternoon.
This evening, in honor of the Association’s 100-year anniversary, Convention attendees will attempt to re-create a historic Convention photo—one of the earliest known photographs of the New York credit union movement—on the front lawn of the Sagamore.
The day will conclude with the CUPAC Silent Auction to raise funds for the state credit union political action committee.
