Foundation providing relief to CU community in Puerto Rico

puerto_rico_us_The New York Credit Union Foundation, in conjunction with CUAid and the National Credit Union Foundation, is accepting disaster relief donations for credit union staff and volunteers affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

In New York, individuals and credit unions are encouraged to make donations directly through the Foundation. On the national level, credit unions and supporters can make donations through CUAid.coop.

The funds will be used to help credit union employees and volunteers who have been impacted by the storm, which tore through Puerto Rico last week, leaving in its path widespread power outages and severe infrastructural damage.

“Our Puerto Rican colleagues—and all those affected by this horrific storm—are in our thoughts and prayers,” Association President/CEO William J. Mellin said earlier this week. “So often we have seen the credit union movement stand together when our peers needed it most, and this time will be no exception. The credit union movement has provided New York with gracious support during some of our most trying times. It is only right that we return that support.”
