Thousands of credit union advocates, including more than 130 New Yorkers, took their message to lawmakers on Capitol Hill yesterday. In total, New York credit union advocates met with more than two-thirds of the state’s congressional delegation during this year’s CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference.

During the meetings, attendees discussed important credit union legislative items with the lawmakers and their staff. The issues included preserving the credit union tax status, data security, website accessibility issues, raising the member business lending cap, funding the CDFI Fund, marijuana banking, regulatory relief measures and more.

The meetings also offered attendees a chance to build relationships with lawmakers and staff, and thank them for their past support on issues.
