Foundation grant helps Spencerport FCU with website upgrade


Credit unions and individuals are encouraged to utilize the New York Credit Union Foundation’s multiple grant programs, which are designed to meet the unique needs of the New York credit union community.

The four types of grant programs that the Foundation offers are Disaster Relief Grants, Professional Development Grants, Smart Money Grants and Small Credit Union Grants.

Small Credit Union Grants help credit unions with up to $100 million in assets fund initiatives to improve member service. For example, the funds can be used to purchase new technology, enhance security and operations, or conduct strategic planning sessions.

The Foundation recently awarded Spencerport FCU a Small Credit Union Grant in the amount of $3,000 to help upgrade their home website and also ensure that it was compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Nancy Bodhorn, manager of Spencerport FCU, said the Foundation has been a huge part in achieving Spencerport’s goals.

“We were awarded $3,000 toward the total cost of the website project, which was a big help,” she said. “Our new website went live on Aug. 1, 2018. The grant money helped defray the costs for this project and made it an easy board approval on the expenditure for the balance we would be paying after applying the grant funds to the project.”

The grant was awarded to Spencerport FCU on March 9, 2018.

“Small credit unions have to watch every dollar spent and justify their expenditures to the board and members,” said Bodhorn. “Having grant money available to assist us with large purchases, training and projects has really helped us here at SFCU. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Foundation for the good work they do.”
