CUs can register as 2019 Scholarship Program participants

Credit unions and chapters can once again offer college scholarships to deserving young members with the New York Credit Union Association’s annual, statewide Scholarship Program.

Last year, participating credit unions awarded $25,500 in scholarships to 27 students through the program.

Kathy Bruce, marketing and communications coordinator of Great Erie FCU, said the Scholarship Program is a very important feature offered to credit unions each year.

“The New York Credit Union Association Scholarship Program is second to none in not only recognizing and awarding our outstanding young students, but also providing tangible, much-needed financial assistance to these hard working students,” said Bruce.

Credit unions interested in participating in the 2018 program should visit the Association’s website for details and registration instructions. The deadline for registration and payment is Friday, Oct. 12.

All completed scholarship applications must be submitted to the Association by Jan. 18, 2019. Scholarship recipients will be announced in late April or early May.
