Young credit union professionals from throughout New York recently attended the Young Professional Fall Summit in Rochester. The event provided the attendees with information on education, awareness, networking and advocacy opportunities within the credit union movement.
The event took place at The Strathallan Rochester Hotel & Spa, where attendees heard from a variety of speakers who shared their diverse insights into the credit union movement.
“This event was very well organized with relevant content that we all benefitted from,” said attendee Trevor Lerkins, IT manager at Reliant Community FCU. “Great job to the Commission for organizing such a well-run event. I look forward to attending similar YP events in the future.”
Marge Kazz, management consultant for the New York Credit Union Association, provided attendees with an informative breakdown of credit union financials and NCUA reports.
Michael Lieberman, Association VP of governmental affairs, provided the group with an advocacy update and shared his experiences with the political process as a whole.
Other presenters included Marie Betti, CEO of Western New York FCU and Association board chairwoman; Amy Calabrese, chief brand officer at Reliant Community FCU; Michael Carter, EVP of digital practice for Strategic Resource Management; and Richard Sellwood VP of member services at Reliant Community FCU and chairman of the Young Professionals Commission.
“It was amazing to have over 60 credit union young professionals from across New York state join members of the Young Professionals Commission for a full day education summit,” said Sellwood. “We were thrilled to bring so many young people together to learn from our presenters and network with their peers. With YPs representing 24 credit unions, this was the Commission’s best attended event in history. We look forward to continuing to build the young professional movement in New York state as we seek to prepare the future leaders of the movement.”
