Important 2019 state-level laws, regulations to consider

New York State HomeNew York credit union leaders are reminded that the state’s minimum wage and paid family leave law have both been expanded as of Dec. 31.

The specifics are as follows:

  • 2019 Minimum Wage increases: The minimum wage has increased to $15 per hour for large employers, those with 11 or more employees, located in New York City. The minimum wage for small employers, those with 10 or less employees, located in New York City, has increased to $13.50 per hour. The minimum wage for employees in Long Island and Westchester has increased to $12 per hour. The state minimum for remainder of state workers is now $11.10.
  • Paid Family Leave: Has expanded to 10 weeks of paid time off and up to 55 percent of employee’s average weekly wage, and up to 55 percent of the New York state average weekly wage. The maximum weekly benefit for 2019 is $746.41.
