The New York Credit Union Association yesterday issued a new, urgent call to action on legislation that would grant local governments the authority to deposit funds in credit unions. The Association vehemently supports the legislation, A.3262-A (Zebrowski)/S.6079-A (Sanders), and is strongly encouraging every credit union advocate in New York—including those who previously took action on this matter—to contact their state lawmakers and urge them to support the legislation.
There are only a few days left in the legislative session and this is a major opportunity to pass historic legislation that would allow municipal governments to deposit funds in credit unions.
“This legislation is the culmination of years of lobbying and weeks of negotiations,” Association President/CEO William J. Mellin wrote in a message to member credit unions yesterday. “Simply put, the New York credit union movement has never been closer to securing this crucial legislative victory. Your engagement on this matter is more urgent than ever… Let’s act quickly and get this done now!
