First New York FCU collecting personal hygiene products for donation

0TREES2018

First New York FCU is collecting rolls of toilet paper at all branches and at their company headquarters this holiday season.

The credit union is undertaking the initiative to assist Capital Region residents who are on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps. Individuals who receive SNAP benefits are not permitted to purchase personal hygiene products—including deodorant, soap, shampoo, laundry detergent or toilet paper—through the program.

First New York’s goal is to collect toilet paper to share with Catholic Charities Tri-County Services, an agency made up of programs that assist the needy with the basic necessities of life.

Last year, First New York collected over 5,000 rolls of toilet paper and other hygiene products for their donation efforts.
