Webinar will highlight benefits of community partnerships in immigrant outreach

New York’s credit unions are invited to participate in an Inclusiv webinar, “Leveraging Partnerships to Reach the Hispanic Market,” scheduled for 2 p.m. today. Inclusiv will host the webinar in collaboration with Catholic Charities USA, Lutheran Refugee Immigration Services and Rio Grande Credit Union. The session is this year’s fourth installment of the Juntos Avanzamos webinar series and is open to all credit unions.

According to Inclusiv, one of the most important characteristics of successful Juntos Avanzamos credit unions is their engagement with community organizations and establishing long-lasting partnerships to expand their reach.

During the webinar, participants will:

  • learn how to identify partners;
  • explore best practices in the creation and operation of partnerships;
  • explore the challenges and benefits of establishing and maintaining partnerships;
  • study examples of successful partnerships; and
  • learn what to expect when partnering with a national community organization.

Juntos Avanzamos was developed as a Hispanic outreach program in Texas, and it has since grown into a nationwide movement and designation for credit unions that demonstrate a commitment to serving immigrants. The New York Credit Union Association supports the initiative.

To receive the Juntos Avanzamos designation, credit unions must demonstrate a strategic plan for improving service to Hispanics, offer bilingual services and information, collaborate with community organizations that support Hispanics, offer affordable products and services relevant to the immigrant consumer, and offer financial education in Spanish and English.
