In a letter to member credit unions on March 16, William J. Mellin, president/CEO of the New York Credit Union Association, reminded credit union professionals and volunteers about what is remarkable about the credit union movement: the ability to rally together in the face of adversity.
“It’s our secret weapon that sets us apart from other industries,” he said. “Cooperation may be a buzzword at some organizations, but for credit unions, it’s a reality we live and breathe every day.”
The Association is seeking feedback from New York’s credit unions to learn more about how they are helping individuals cope with the coronavirus pandemic. The Association may use these credit union stories when meeting with lawmakers, penning comment letters to policymakers or in other advocacy-related efforts.
Information can be submitted on the Association’s website.
