Several Recognition Awards will be presented to New York credit unions during the New York Credit Union Association’s 2020 virtual Annual Meeting & Awards Presentation, which will be held 9-10 a.m. on Monday, June 15. Today’s featured award is the Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service Award, which is awarded to a credit union for its practical application of credit union philosophy within the actual operation of the credit union. It is awarded for internal programs and services that benefit membership.

Community Resource FCU is being recognized for its program, Community Heroes – Giving Back to Those Who Keep Us Safe at Home and Abroad. The initiative provides individuals who are active duty, reserve, retirees and veterans, along with firefighters, law enforcement and first responders with rebates and discounts and encourages military members to take a pledge for better savings and budget habits.

 Visions FCU is being recognized for its Veterans Program, which aims to thank the credit union’s veteran community. The initiative features exclusive bonuses, a patriotic debit card design tied to donations to Operation Homefront and scholarship opportunities for children and dependents of veterans. For every new patriotic-designed card, Visions FCU donated $5 to Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to help military families thrive.
