Several Recognition Awards will be presented to New York credit unions during the New York Credit Union Association’s 2020 virtual Annual Meeting & Awards Presentation, which will be held 9-10 a.m. on Monday, June 15. Today’s featured award is the Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award, which recognizes credit unions that demonstrate a significant commitment to adult financial education.
This year’s winners are Western New York FCU and Mid-Hudson Valley FCU.
Western New York FCU has been selected for its Common Member Scams Education initiative. The program entails providing information to members about scams and fraud that they should be aware of and protect themselves against. This included creating research collateral and sharing it in as many avenues as possible to reach as many members as possible, including multiple email blasts, educational packets in the lobby, social media posts, home banking notifications and buck slips handed to every member that entered the branch.
Mid-Hudson Valley FCU has been selected for its Guidance for Your Financial Journey initiative. Throughout 2019, MHV focused on creating and promoting the resources, seminars and webinars to drive financial education, as well as forging community partnerships, to bring financial education to as many people as possible. Bringing together the power of the credit union’s content, the strength of its community partnerships and the reach of its technology, MHV worked to create a region-leading financial education program.
