Best practices for sustainability of credit unions topic of Aug. 5 virtual briefing

The United in Sustainability Credit Union Network is hosting a virtual briefing on best practices in sustainability reporting on Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 3 to 4 p.m. The briefing will explore communicating on environmental conservation, innovative green products, social responsibility initiatives, volunteerism and diversity, equity and inclusion.

The agenda includes:

  • welcome;
  • presentation on UNFCU 2019 Impact Report with Patrick Johnson, program manager, UNFCU Global Sustainability Program;
  • deep-dive reporting on carbon neutrality goal-setting with Paul Herendeen, director of impact market development, Clearwater Credit Union;
  • spotlight on DEI conversations with Carlene Alexander, chief diversity officer, UNFCU; and
  • group discussion on optimizing 2020 UIS Summit with Carlos Calderon, CEO/president, OAS FCU.

The goal of the network is to protect the planet and engage staff, members and supply chains in its efforts, in addition to driving greater overall efficiencies for credit unions. The network aims to build on the success of its United in Sustainability Credit Union Summit, which was held at the United Nations headquarters last October.
