History, philosophy and structure: Explore CU movement during next CUNA/Leagues webinar

The New York Credit Union Association and other state leagues from across the country have partnered with CUNA to offer weekly complimentary webinars aimed at tackling the most important issues and subjects facing smaller-asset sized credit unions.

Geared toward credit unions with assets up to $100 million, the CUNA-League System Small CU Webinar Series, which is sponsored by CUNA Mutual Group, includes timely topics, including new member growth, technology best practices, succession planning, marketing, board engagement and much more.

The Tuesday, Sept. 8 program, “History & Philosophy of the Credit Union Movement,” will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

In this session, discussion will focus on the credit union movement’s 170 years of history, philosophy, structure and other aspects with two insiders who have a combined 60 years of experience. Participants will gain a better understanding of the not-for-profit, cooperative business model that makes  industry unique among financial institutions.

Participants will also discover how “the financial circle” informs and differentiates management’s decisions to deliver the best results for members, and obtain insights into where mottos such as “people helping people” and “not for profit, not for charity, but for service” originated.

With every league and CUNA committed to hosting a weekly webinar, sessions began Aug. 4 and are scheduled through spring 2021, allowing the Association to record and create a library of 30-plus sessions packed with ideas and actionable information to help credit unions.
