New York Paid Sick Leave: Complimentary webinar can help CUs navigate new law

A complimentary webinar at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20 will provide important information for credit unions about the New York State Paid Sick Leave law.

Participants will hear an overview of the new law, a summary of recent guidance issued by the New York State Department of Labor and practical implications for credit unions to consider as they implement changes to their paid time-off policies. John Bagyi, an attorney with Bond, Shoeneck & King, who counsels and represents employers on labor and employment issues and helps them achieve and maintain legal compliance, will be the speaker.

As previously reported, the New York Paid Sick Leave Law was included in the New York state 2020-2021 budget, signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo on April 3, 2020 and applies to employers of all sizes, except for public employers.

The legislation became effective on Sept. 30, 2020 and employers were required to begin to allowing employees to take sick leave under the statute on Jan. 1, 2021.
