Award-winning documentarian, journalist, speaker, author and philanthropist Soledad O’Brien will be a keynote speaker at the 2021 CUNA GAC, which will be held on a virtual platform March 2-4.
O’Brien is the CEO of Soledad O’Brien Productions, a multi-platform media production company dedicated to telling empowering and authentic stories on a range of social issues and a thought leader whose public engagement garners wide attention. She has had national impact with her books and speeches, and her presence on the nation’s op-ed pages and social media.
O’Brien currently anchors and produces the political magazine program Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien, and reports regularly for HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.
She has anchored shows on CNN, MSNBC and NBC, and hosted projects for Fox and A&E. O’Brien has contributed to the three major broadcast networks as well as Oxygen, Nat Geo, the PBS NewsHour and WebMD. She was a special correspondent on Al Jazeera America’s news program, America Tonight, and produced several documentaries on social issues for the network.
Other speakers announced so far include author Kevin Carroll and Scott Gottlieb, M.D., with Antonio Neves returning as emcee.
Kevin Carroll. Carroll is the founder of Kevin Carroll Katalyst/LLC and the author of the books “Rules of the Red Rubber Ball,” “What’s Your Red Rubber Ball?!,” “The Red Rubber Ball at Work,” “A Kids Book About Belonging” and “A Kids Book About.” As an author, speaker and agent for social change, it is Carroll’s “job” to inspire businesses, organizations and individuals — from CEOs and employees of Fortune 500 companies to schoolchildren — to maximize their potential.
Scott Gottlieb, M.D. Gottlieb is a physician and served as the 23rd commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. His work focuses on advancing public health through developing and implementing innovative approaches to improving medical outcomes, reshaping health care delivery and expanding consumer choice and safety. He is a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and a partner at the venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates.
The event will again be emceed by Antonio Neves, an internationally recognized workplace speaker, career success coach and author. An award-winning journalist, Neve served as a correspondent in the television industry in New York City with top networks including NBC, PBS and BET networks for more than 10 years.
The CUNA GAC event is considered the premier event for political impact in the credit union industry, drawing thousands of credit union advocates to launch the credit union advocacy agenda. In addition to the keynote and educational sessions, the event also includes virtual face-to-face meetings with some of the most influential policymakers in the country.
