Best of the Capital Region

Three of the five financial institutions named to the best bank/credit union category in the Times Union’s 2021 Best of the Capital Region list are credit unions. Named second, third and fifth respectively, SEFCU, CAP COM FCU and Sunmark FCU were recognized in the reader poll, in which nearly 40,000 people voted.

CUNA Diamond Awards

Several New York credit unions have been recognized by CUNA Councils with Diamond Awards, for excellence in marketing and business development in the credit union industry. New York credit unions receiving the 2021 Diamond Award include:

Alternatives FCU;
AmeriCU Credit Union;
Bethpage FCU;
First Heritage FCU;
Heritage Financial Credit Union;
Mid-Hudson Valley FCU;
Quorum FCU;
Reliant Credit Union;
Sunmark Credit Union;
Teachers FCU; and
Visions FCU.

Teachers FCU
Teachers FCU is recognizing teachers who are making outstanding contributions in their communities during Teacher Appreciation Week this week.

Teachers FCU announced nine finalist K-12 teachers who work in a public or private school districts in the United States, including New York, with three to be awarded $1,500 classroom grants. One award will be given each for grades K-5, grades 6-8 and grades 9-12. Both Teachers FCU members and non-members are eligible for nomination.

Teachers FCU also announced a $33,305.72 donation to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Throughout March, Teachers FCU hosted a fundraising campaign where balloons could be purchased at any Teachers FCU branch. With employee and member support, Teachers FCU raised $13,305.72 and both Teachers FCU and Co-Op Financial Services Miracle Match program matched $10,000, leaving the total donation at more than $33,000.
