ICU Day webinar: How to provide safe, affordable transactions to underserved

Credit union professionals are invited to a special International Credit Union Day webinar highlighting safe, low-cost transactional and savings accounts that are responsive to the needs of consumers, particularly the underserved.

The NCUA webinar, “Pathways to Safe and Affordable Account Access for Consumers,” will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, and address how credit unions can provide consumers with a safe place to grow savings, conduct financial transactions, build credit history and help establish and maintain financial well-being. Additionally, the webinar will address how credit unions can partner with city and community-based organizations to provide account access to unbanked members of the public.

The webinar will feature financial inclusion professionals, including representatives from the CFPB, Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund and Inclusiv (a New York State Credit Union Association strategic partner), who will discuss ways credit unions are providing low-cost transactional and savings accounts that are responsive to the needs of consumers, the underserved and other vulnerable communities. Additionally, credit union leaders will share information about their programs aimed at offering low-cost, low-fee products and services to consumers that bring greater inclusion and equity.
