Leatherstocking FCU, a $70 million credit union located in Cooperstown, has been approved by the NCUA for a charter conversion to expand into the counties of Chenango, Delaware, Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery, Otsego and Schoharie.

Anoel Kelly, Leatherstocking FCU CEO, and her team say they are excited about the field of membership expansion and eager to serve the consumers, communities and local organizations in the rural district. 

“We look forward to making our services available to the surrounding area, and expanding our field of membership which not only benefits new potential members, but existing members as well, as our ability to keep up with the rapidly changing financial landscape improves,” Kelly said. “The application for the rural district conversion/expansion was written by the New York Credit Union Association. Leatherstocking FCU was founded in 1977 by employees of Bassett Hospital and prior to this charter conversion served over 29 individual SEGs and all of Otsego County.
