As the current housing crisis continues to affect many families across the state, the New York Credit Union Association last week invited member credit unions to come together and support the Capitol Build Day 2022 — a Habitat for Humanity of New York State initiative.
Habitat for Humanity of New York State, along with state legislators and volunteers, are teaming up to build a home for a hardworking New York family on May 24, 2022, in Albany, literally at the bottom of the steps of the state capitol.
This event is an opportunity for the credit union movement to show its support for affordable homeownership and community reinvestment. It also provides a great advocacy initiative and will bring more awareness of credit unions to New York.
Further, with the support of the New York credit union movement, not only will this demonstrate the credit union movement’s cooperative spirit, it will provide opportunities for credit union leaders to work side by side during the event with influential policy makers and like-minded volunteers. New York’s credit unions will also be recognized in event marketing materials, opening remarks, social media, and much more.
A link to join the statewide initiative was sent to credit union leaders earlier this month.
