New York appointee among four new Credit Union Advisory Council members

Shawn Wolbert

The CFPB has announced the appointment of new members to its Credit Union Advisory Council (CUAC), including one from New York state. The purpose of the CUAC is to advise and consult the CFPB on financial issues related to community banks and credit unions.

Shawn Wolbert, President/CEO of GHS FCU in Binghamton, is among the four new appointees to the CUAC.

“Being appointed to the CFPB CUAC is a great opportunity for New York credit unions to have the ability to share how regulation impacts credit union operations in our state,” Wolbert said. “I hope over the course of my term that I can meet with credit unions throughout New York to better communicate our challenges and successes back to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.”

In addition to Wolbert, the other new appointees include:

  • Chad LaFlash, AVP Research/Product Strategy, University of Wisconsin Credit Union in Madison, Wisconsin;
  • Floyd Rummel, III, CEO of Northern Hills FCU in Sturgis, South Dakota; and
  • Suzanne Weinstein, President/CEO of Orlando Credit Union in Orlando, Florida.

The CFPB also announced new appointments to the Consumer Advisory Board, Community Bank Advisory Council and Academic Research Council.
