New York State COVID-19 Paid Sick Leave Ends July 31

New York’s COVID-19-specific paid sick leave law will officially expire on July 31. Originally enacted in 2020, the legislation ensured workers received protected leave when affected by quarantine or illness. Moving forward, New Yorkers will still be able to access time off under the broader Paid Sick Leave and Paid Family Leave laws.

Employers, such as credit unions, are not required to take additional action when the law sunsets, but should remain aware of continuing obligations under other state mandates.
