Sperry FCU members and staff recently held their first “Cutest Pet Contest” to raise funds for Long Island Cares.

The contest encouraged Facebook users to share photographs of their pets. The credit union received more than 100 photos and over 1,200 likes on their Facebook page, allowing them to award hundreds of dollars in gift cards for Petco to the lucky winners.

As part of the contest, Sperry also made a donation to the Baxter Pet Pantry operated by Long Island Cares, Inc. The Baxter Pet Pantry makes pet food and supplies available at no cost to families that are in need who own pets throughout Long Island, Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

“Thank you to our good friends at Sperry FCU for their support of Baxter’s Pet Pantry,” said Cheryl Steinhauer, special events manager of Long Island Cares. “This generous donation will help to feed the pets of families in need in Nassau and Suffolk counties.”
