The World Council of Credit Unions and CUNA have announced this year’s International Credit Union Day theme: “Local Service. Global Reach.” According to WOCCU, the theme is intended to capture the “focus and scope” of credit unions and further explain their mission on how each credit union serves a local community globally.

This year’s ICU Day will be held Thursday, Oct. 17. The ultimate goal of the celebration is to raise awareness about the tremendous work credit unions and other financial cooperatives are doing around the world and give members the opportunity to get more engaged. During ICU Day, credit unions around the world host fundraisers, open houses, contests, picnics, volunteer initiatives, parades and more.
