Hudson River Financial FCU and several partner organizations collected and donated 1,486 pounds of Halloween candy to benefit the Soldiers’ Angels “Treats for Troops” donation drive. This collection doubled the amount of candy collected by the credit union last year and exceeded their goal of collecting 1,000 pounds of candy.

The candy will be distributed by Soldiers’ Angels to deployed service members around the world, as well as to veterans in Veterans Affairs hospitals nationwide.

“We are thankful that our members, employees and our community came together to donate so much candy to a great cause in the credit union spirit of people helping people,” said Hudson River Financial FCU President and CEO Thomas J. Powers Jr. “The fact that we were able to far exceed both last year’s total and this year’s goal shows the level of appreciation that we all have for our nation’s military and veterans. We thank them for their dedicated service, and thank Soldiers’ Angels for the great work they do.”

The credit union partnered with a number of local organizations on the initiative, including Pronto Printer in Cortlandt Manor, as well as: Somers High School; Somers Intermediate School; Yorktown High School’s National Honor Society; Goldfish Swim School; Edenwald School; Woodside Elementary School; George Washington Elementary School; and Katonah Mind and Body.
