Meet the Association’s Compliance Department

The New York Credit Union Association’s compliance team has responded to well over 5,000 emails and phone calls from member credit unions since the beginning of 2019. The compliance department also monitors and analyzes proposals, interprets final rules and provides numerous resources to help New York’s credit unions tackle their compliance-related matters.

The Association’s compliance services are constantly ranked by member credit unions as among the Association’s most valuable and important offerings.

The Compliance Department is led by Association Compliance Director Linda Bow, and supported by Compliance Consultant Bridget Hartnett and Senior Compliance Specialist Sarah Hodgens.

BowHeadshot_19Linda Bow joined the Association in June 2017. Bow, who holds a master’s degree in business ethics and compliance, has over 30 years of financial services experience. Prior to joining the Association, Bow served as a senior officer at a financial services company, where she was responsible for developing and facilitating compliance training and overseeing the department’s scheduled regulatory reviews.

Prior to that, Bow served as vice president of operations at a financial institution, where she oversaw regulatory compliance for the processing and underwriting departments.

hartnettheadshot_19.jpgBridget Hartnett joined the Association in March 2018. Prior to joining the Association as a compliance consultant, Hartnett worked at several New York credit unions, including Sunmark FCU, Health Employees FCU, SEFCU and TCT FCU. Her credit union career has spanned various areas including training, lending, branch and retail operations, as well as online services.

HodgensHeadshot_19Sarah Hodgens joined the Association in April 2017 as a senior compliance specialist. Hodgens has more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, including 7 years in the credit union movement. Prior to joining the Association, Hodgens served as an EFT trainer at Covera for five years. She also held various managerial and operational positions at several Capital Region-based financial institutions, beginning her career as a part-time teller and advancing to the role of assistant manager.

“The team pride within our department is a major reason we’re able to provide our member credit unions with such thorough and accurate answers to their questions,” said Bow. “Our team is passionate about credit unions and passionate about compliance. I believe our passion is evident in both the quality of the responses we provide to credit unions, as well as the research completed in order to provide both operational and regulatory perspectives.”
