The New York Credit Union Association weighed in this week with a letter to the NCUA largely supporting changes to the agency’s proposed field of membership rule, but offering specific recommendations for improving the proposal.
A provision in the National Defense Authorization Act strongly opposed by the New York Credit Union Association was not included in the conference report, which is the final version of the bill after the House and Senate negotiated on the language of the legislation. The omission represents a significant victory for the credit union movement.
Protecting and preserving the credit union tax status will be the New York Credit Union Association’s top advocacy priority in 2020.
Eligible credit unions can now apply for the Small Credit Union CUNA GAC Scholarship Contest, sponsored by CUNA Mutual Group. Through the program, two credit unions will win full scholarships to cover registration, airfare and lodging accommodations at the 2020 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference.
