UNFCU hosts event focused on sustainability initiatives

United Nations FCU recently hosted a sustainability event in New York City. The event explored how credit unions can use sustainability initiatives to drive value, engagement, and organizational growth, as well as gain insight on impactful diversity & inclusion initiatives.

The summit was led by sustainability experts from United Nations, UNFCU and the private sector. Topics included:

  • applying the United Nations sustainability development goals to your business;
  • creating a sustainability plan with measurable benchmarks, targets and goals; and
  • leveraging staff talent to build a successful sustainability movement.

The event offered interactive discussions, breakout sessions, networking opportunities and insights from UN officers and the UN Global Compact on Sustainable Development.

“Our aim for the Summit was to bring credit unions and their associations together to share ideas on sustainability initiatives that can benefit their members, staff and bottom line,” said Pamela Agnone, senior vice president of Retail Services at UNFCU and the executive sponsor of the UNFCU Global Sustainability Program.

“It has been inspirational hearing all the different credit unions tell their stories and facilitating the start of a United in Sustainability Network that includes advancing diversity and inclusion conversations and many practical resources. We thank the New York Credit Union Association for their strong support and we look forward to more credit unions joining the movement,” Agnone said.
