International Credit Union Week is officially underway, and this year’s theme is “Inspiring hope for a global community.”
According to the World Council of Credit Unions, the theme is intended to capture the focus and scope of credit unions, and further explain how each credit union serves a local community globally.
The ultimate goal of the celebration is to raise awareness about the tremendous work credit unions and other financial cooperatives are doing around the world and give members the opportunity to get more engaged. During ICU Day, credit unions around the world host fundraisers, open houses, contests, picnics, volunteer initiatives, parades and more.
In recognition of International Credit Union Week, the New York Credit Union Association is teaming up with Cabot Creamery — which, as a co-op, shares the Association’s cooperative spirit and principles — to send member credit unions care packages of award-winning Cabot Creamery cheddar. More information about this flavorful collaboration can be accessed here.
In addition to celebrating International Credit Union Week, International Credit Union Day will be held this Thursday, Oct. 15. Credit unions can access 2020 International Credit Union Day Day marketing materials by visiting CUNA’s website.
New York credit unions are encouraged to engage with the Association on social media and share their ICU Week initiatives.
